VMT BK | CloudBK
Components that aren't positioned reproducibly, make it hard for a robot to follow its path with precision. VMT BK measures object contours to dynamically adapt the robot path at a high precision - and it even performs on low-contrast surfaces, high color variance, and is robust against stray light. VMT CloudBK extends this with point-cloud sensing: a single capture that creates a full digital representation of the object - with no robot movement at all - from which virtual cross-sections are extracted for correcting the robot path.
High Reliability

Over 99.9% first-pass yield in stable operation

Robust Detection

Reliable edge detection on low-contrast surfaces, color variance, and stray light

Flexible Correction

Local path correction, no global offset required

How it works

Local Contour Measurement
BK measures contours directly on the component and computes a best-fit alignment for the robot path, adapting it as finely as the part requires — from a single offset vector to point-by-point contour following.
High Accuracy Across Wide Tolerances
Accuracy of ±0.2 mm across tolerance ranges of up to several centimeters. The measurement runs at full robot speed — no stops, no slow scanning, minimum added cycle time.
Single-Capture Alternative with CloudBK
CloudBK captures the full component geometry in a single, motionless shot. From that one capture, any number of virtual cross-sections can be extracted for position correction — no measurement run required.

How it works

Software & Connectivity

Technology Package for All Common Robot Controllers
A ready-to-use technology package communicates with KUKA (KRC/VKRC), FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, Kawasaki, and other common controllers — no complex programming required.
Evaluation & Visualization Software
VMT software calculates the path correction, visualizes the result, and lets you adjust it manually — all within the VMT working environment.
Logging & Traceability
All measurement values and system states are logged continuously — component deviations, RMS values, overall system condition — making drift and trends visible over time. An optional database connection keeps the data available for long-term traceability.

Hardware & Integration

VMT LineRunner Laser Sensor Family
A family of high-accuracy, compact and rugged laser sensors, available in several working distances and measurement ranges — matched to the component and application.
Robust Laser Triangulation
A projected laser line and a defined camera angle capture height and width in a single measurement — reliably, even under stray light and changing surfaces. The low laser class requires no additional protective measures, keeping the system safe and easy to deploy.
Simple Integration
IP67-rated and approx. 500 g, the sensor connects to the VMT vision controller or a PC via standard M12 connectors — power and Ethernet (TCP/IP, 100 Mbit/s) only. No special cabling required.
